Giants and watersports

The majestic Tusker, “Deegadantha 2” enjoys the occasional dip in the lake to cool himself off at the Kalawewe National Park . With his downward curved tusks submerged in the water, he enjoys the spray of fresh water on his face on the mid-ay heat.

“Deegadantha” meaning the one with long tusks was captured on camera in mid March 2019 on a safari done for a group of guests at Mahoora Tented Safari Camp - Wilpatthu.

However, Explorer by Mahoora - Kalawewa is also now operational.

Amazing experience - great company values

We had a wonderful stay at yala camp - great accommodation / food / safari. The staff were all outstanding - all full of passion for their role to make sure we had an unforgettable experience and absolutely committed to providing an ethical product. This company provides a perfect safari experience - no plastics / sustainable / local produce / knowledgeable committed staff. An honour to be a guest and support them."
