Hey, hello! Nice to see you.
An Orange Minivet is in a chatty mood
“I was just taking a break from hanging out with the rest of the flock when I saw you. We Minivets are a gregarious bunch, but occasionally, a bird needs a break. You get me right? Good good. What made you stop and look at me? My beautiful plumage? Why thank you! Did you know that the males in our species have a glorious orange body, glossy black head, chin, throat, mantle and upper back? The girls, on the other hand, are mostly yellow and grey, so we make quite a colourful bunch when we’re all together.”
Fun Facts
“We’re expert Sally Gleaners by the way. Oh you don’t know what that means? Well, it refers to a hunting technique where we swoop down and grab an insect from a leaf or bush without pausing or stopping. Talk about fast food takeaway, hahaha! I was actually scanning for insects when you stopped by. If I had seen more than a few I would have whistled to my flock weep-weep just like that and they would all be here and we would have ourselves a grand old foraging party! ”
